But why a website devoted to Barstools?

Here’s the story.

After 10 years in Asia as a cultural journalist, I returned to Europe where I met my husband in Barcelona. We were married in Hong Kong and a year later he asked me come to his family home in Warsaw, Poland. As I stood at the top of the stairs to the cozy wood attic, with a huge fireplace in the center, I fell in love. There was a chill in the air outside. Inside it was snugly warm and wood. Even the floor, which creaked a little with each step, was delightful.

But what caught my attention most were 4 tall, wood bar stools alongside the long row of windows. The stools were the exact height required to sit and look out over the city. In the evenings, my new husband and I would sit there and sip wine or vodka and tell each other our dreams. I had traveled with him, moved across the world to be with him, and yet…until those conversations sitting on those old wood barstools, I hadn’t really come to love or know him fully.  When we left Warsaw to set up life in Andalucia Spain, the only furniture we wanted were the 4 bar stools.

What I want to say is that Barstools are pieces of furniture that hold in their long legs and curvaceous seats a unique spirit. Perhaps because CONVERSATIONS take place while sitting or leaning on them, while relaxed sipping a drink. It’s often atop a barstool that ideas are born and dreams seem more attainable. Barstools are tall, above the peanuts on the floor, above the petty troubles of the day. They may not inspire us all by themselves, but they are akin to friends,conversation, relaxation, a sip of wine, a martini or a beer, a cool margarita on a hot poolside afternoon, a fruit smoothy and morning sunshine at the kitchen counter barstool.

Your Barstool isn’t really about furniture.

It’s about the memories you make, the dreams you dream and the moments of pleasure that happen while sitting on your very own barstool!
